I was supposed to be there with the italian Aermacchi MB339CD but unfortunately the day before the Italian air force cancelled our presence... The only good think was that in the same weekend I invited the Swip team in Italy for an airshow down in Lecce deep south Italy. I had the pleasure to meet Peter and Guy and to see with my eyes the beautiful Twister! Their show is superb, they had the compliments from all, and they were back in Italy 1 month after in Ancona... Their are good and cheap in reference with solo aerobatic pilots with extra or similar, this is why they will be invited again and also because a aerobatic formation is always something nice to see... Since i'm interested in building an aircraft, I find the twister a good project in terms of performaces vs costs, and your blog is a perfect reference to have an idea on how difficult it is to build a composite aircraft! Good job and continue in this way, I will join often to see your progress ;)
Hi Andy, I've sended an email to Matthias Strieker of Silence Aircraft to have some info on the kit in terms of waiting times and other stuff like the possibility to have a closer look (before I saw the swip team) and he said to me that there is a costumer somewhere in Italy, but Termikas is building the kit for him...

Hi Gianpaolo,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments.
I agree the SWIP team do a great display - this is a great advertisement for the Twister!
I believe there is a Twister being built in Italy but I am not sure where.
Hopefully you can come to Fairford next year.
Regards
Andy
